Treatment for pain that radiates from the lower back down the leg.

GETTING BACK TO YOUR LIFE
When Sciatica Gets in the Way
Sciatica is pain that follows the path of the sciatic nerve, usually from the lower back down through one leg. It can make everyday movement — sitting, standing, even walking — uncomfortable.
Chiropractic care for sciatica focuses on identifying what’s contributing to the nerve irritation and addressing it directly, rather than just managing symptoms.
What’s Actually Causing It
“Sciatica” describes a pattern of symptoms — pain along the sciatic nerve’s path — rather than a single diagnosis. A herniated disc pressing on a nerve root is a common cause, but tightness in the piriformis muscle deep in the hip, spinal stenosis, or joint irritation in the lower back can produce similar symptoms. Identifying which one applies to you changes how we approach treatment, which is why the exam matters as much as the symptom pattern itself.
During your exam, we use orthopedic and neurological tests to help narrow down where the irritation is coming from — the disc, the muscle, or the joint — and build your treatment plan around that, rather than treating every case of radiating leg pain the same way. For disc-related sciatica, spinal decompression therapy is sometimes part of the plan.
Most cases improve with conservative care over time, though how quickly varies with the underlying cause and how long symptoms have been present. We reassess as we go and will refer you out if your case needs care beyond what chiropractic treatment addresses.
