CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Headaches & Migraines
Evaluation of neck- and posture-related contributors to headaches.

WHERE HEADACHES START
When the Neck Is Part of the Picture
Some headaches originate in the neck — tension and joint restriction in the upper spine can refer pain into the head. These are sometimes called cervicogenic headaches, and they’re one of several types of headaches that may respond to chiropractic care.
Not every headache has a neck-related cause, so an exam helps us understand whether this approach makes sense for you.

Not All Headaches Are the Same
Cervicogenic and tension-type headaches often trace back to joint restriction or muscle tightness in the upper neck, which can refer pain up into the head — typically felt on one side, starting at the base of the skull, and sometimes made worse by certain neck positions or prolonged desk work. These patterns tend to respond well to addressing the neck directly.
Migraines are a different, more complex neurological condition, and chiropractic care isn’t a treatment for migraine disease itself. That said, some migraine sufferers also carry neck tension that acts as a trigger or makes attacks worse, and addressing that neck-related contributor can be a reasonable piece of a broader plan — alongside, not instead of, care from your physician or a neurologist.
Your exam — checking neck range of motion, joint restriction, and whether reproducing certain neck movements brings on your usual headache — helps us figure out how much of a role the neck is actually playing before recommending care.
